Qatar plans maintenance at Mesaieed crude oil refinery in 2009

Qatar Petroleum, the state-owned oil company, is planning to shut several refining units at Mesaieed for scheduled maintenance in the first and final quarter of 2009.
Qatar Petroleum is planning maintenance at crude distillation units No. 1 and No. 2 and utilities in the refinery in the first quarter of next year for 34 days, the company said on its Web site, asking contractors to submit bids to provide maintenance and repair services during the shutdown.In the final quarter of 2009, the oil company is planning to shut its residue fluid catalytic cracking unit, sulfur, condensate plants and utilities for 54 days.
Contractors have to submit bids by July 27, 11 a.m. local time, and they must be valid until Nov. 24, the company said.
The refinery can process 200,000 barrels of oil a day, and is located in Mesaieed Industrial City, about 40 kilometers from Doha, Qatar’s capital.
